I just found your blog, and I'm so glad I did. I also just posted a piece on wild greens on my blog. Are you anywhere near Isernia? We were once at a Samnite amphitheater near there, in Pietrabbondante. My town, Princeton, has a sister city near Isernia, in a small village called Pettoranello.
